Well. Lonely World, my AW hack, is finally done.

Well. Lonely World, my AW hack, is finally done.

Well. Lonely World, my AW hack, is finally done.

The demo version, that is.

It is free to all those who wish to experience the end of everything as it is happening.

If you read it, download it, or play it, I only ask that you give me your feedback.

If there is enough support for Lonely World I may make a full version with art and customized character sheets and all that.

For now, it is what it is.

  1. Imply Pain seems to be less of an intimidate move and more of the same-old “start fighting” kind of move. (This is a personal gripe of mine, I don’t think there’s a decently written intimidation move out there that doesn’t end in violence as an outcome. Sometimes I just want to bluff with the threat of violence and that’s what the words “imply pain” immediately communicate.)

I think the spiral is a cool idea, but a pointed spiral creates two spirals and visually this is confusing and unwieldy on a character sheet. I would change harm to be something that fits with the theme of Lonely World (maybe a bottle that fills up or dries out?) and make Stress a curved spiral, like this:

since Stress is all about spiraling out of control mentally, and harm is like slowly running out of physical energy, or juice.

I like the way you’ve written Talk Slick, but what happens when a PC talks slick to another PC who tries to see through someone? It seems like talk slick should determine the believability, and the other PC could affect the roll by rolling +Hx, rather than having a move that might trump the success of talk slick.

Lots of cool ideas here! I really like the +meat moves, those are cool. And find a path, that’s a fun move!

  2. Patrick Henry Downs wow thanks for reading so much of it.

I can see what you are saying about Talk Slick and See Through Someone. The success of one move shouldn’t turn another one into a failure. This is a complicated social issue. I think i would have to see it being played out before I could tell how to run it.

If you play-test it please let me know how it goes.

  3. I downloaded it to my Mac and will transfer to my iPad later so i can read it more comfortably. Thanks!

I’d love to get an ebook too. Is it easy to turn a file into an ebook? Which is the better original format? PDF? .doc?

  4. I did my last book in ebook format and it took a long time to get all the formatting right. I’ll do it but only if there is a market for it, and after I do any necessary revisions.

I use PDF usually because its free and easy and most everything can read them (don’t know about apple products though)
