Up until now, one of the Masks playbooks has been going by the name, “The Inhuman.” For reasons having to do with a certain very large and powerful comics company making a substantial push on a brand that involves that name, we’re changing it. But we haven’t quite settled on a new title yet. Help us decide!

This playbook is about playing someone whose body is changed, altered, mutated, rebuilt, whatever, so that it is no longer familiar. They clearly appear different from average human beings, in a way that makes people unsettled. Some of the biggest character inspirations for this playbook include Beast, Cyborg, Mettle (from Avengers Academy), and the Thing.

So should the playbook’s new name be…

  1. Michael Miller, that option came up in thinks about it, but ultimately I decided that it had meanings that I didn’t think were right for this playbook. I wanted something that more clearly connoted what the playbook is about.

…which is why I am supremely frustrated with this whole “no more mutants up with Black Bolt and kin” push, because I liked that name. Rizzafricka.

  2. None of these really grab me. :/

The monster is probably the closest to it, but seems to go beyond what you want–cyborg is not what I’d call a monster, hulk is what I’d call a monster. maybe beast.

The transformed makes me think more like sailor moon transformation sequences. an on/off switch.

Aberration could work, but unless they’re supposed to be rare in game as well…?

the horror – again, wouldn’t call cyborg a horror, maybe beast.

Chimera is a mashup of different creatures, and not something that I think works for this.

    Other ideas:

    More literal:

    The Changed

    The Altered

    The Misshapen

more evocative than literal – these are all ONCE WERE normal human characters, right?

    The Lost

    The Reborn
