Hello everyone.

Hello everyone.

Hello everyone.

So, two games here.

The first one with Tiburce Guyard ファブリスFabrissou and Eric Massera and myself as the GK.

The second with Tiburce Guyard, Tom Z and Luke Wayland and I as GK.

I have to admit, if I had concerns before, they flew right out the window.

Both game were awesome ! We just finished a second game with the Witch, the Animus and the Virgin. The game ended with the Witch standing alone, her sisters shattered (reading the text together is really neat). The Bride was on the very edge of madness at the end.

A lot of bleed out and some dark dark stuff… It helps to play with people you trust 🙂

I have a few questions though :

• When the Animus takes a Trauma because of her face “The Shield”, can she decide that every sister takes Trauma as well (we ruled that yes, because the sisters were realising that their protector was failing) ?

• About the Witch : why is the face “The Viper” restricted to Servants and can’t apply to horrors as well ?

• Can you voluntarily pass the ring at anytime ?

• Obviously, when you shiver with fear and take one trauma because of it, you don’t have to pass the ring, right ?

Remarks :

• The questions about the keys which were swapped with Agenda/principles/moves are awesome sauce.

• I really hope the GM section of the game brings some real advice on how to run this game.

In the end, we were all impressed by how elegant the game is and how far it led us.

  1. I know answers to a couple of your questions!

    * You can voluntarily pass the ring, though it’s a bit of a jerk move. It’s the last ring move. If you give the ring to another sister without being forced to, you’re immune to trauma until the next time the ring changes hands.

*When you shiver with fear, you have two options, as described on the move sheet. If you pick two, you can keep the ring. If you pick one, you have to pass the ring.

One of the great elements for me of the game is that ring moves give you narrative influence, but should almost always backfire. I played Friday night as the witch and almost got shattered in the first room from trying to be overly aggressive with ring moves, and later used my Viper face and IMMEDIATELY regretted it. The rest of the sisters were playing a bit ‘holier than though’ and I stood in as a wiser protector for them, but had to give up spotlight quickly when it was clear I was making things worse.

  2. Vincent Eaton Thank you for the answers. For the Shiver from fear ring, you can choose to take trauma as an option. But the Trauma rule states that if you take trauma, you have to pass the ring. If it is the option I chose with another one, have I to pass the ring ?

  3. I think I missed that. I didn’t think there was a rule that you had to pass if you take trauma. I saw the rule saying you have to pass if you use a ring move, unless stated otherwise. Is it on the move sheet?

  4. Vincent Eaton Trauma Track

“Trauma is mental as well as physical. The sister that provokes trauma can choose to take it alone, but if not, all sisters take the trauma. The sister with the ring must pass it if she takes trauma. Taking a Token of Faithfulness heals a trauma. When a trauma track lls, that sister shatters.”

  5. Hey Antoine!

Let’s see if I can answer your questions.

    – The Shield: Only the Animus takes that trauma.

    – The Viper: The Bride doesn’t have leverage over horrors like she does servants.

    – The ring: Yes, it can be passed at any time.

    – Shiver from fear: This move that has an option that allows you to keep the ring. If you choose 2 options, you keep the ring, even if the Groundskeeper inflicts trauma as part of the Move.

  6. Magpie Games Thank you for the response.

Too bad for the Shield, it kind of made more sense for us.

Also, the Witch has no control on the horror (e.g. the fantastic), but the humans ? That sounds weird to me, but alright.
