I will be running a Weird West game online soon, and I think translating Urban Shadows to the genre would be perfect,

I want to write a few custom environment / town moves, but was hoping for a bit of inspiration.

When a new train comes to town?

When playing poker in a bar?

When dueling another in the streets?

Ect….

  1. If you duel others in the middle of town with the desire of showing your bravery or superiority, roll with (heart if you are being brave while helping others) or (X if you are wanting to show your superiority). On a 10+, choose 3. On a 7-9, choose 2.

You hit your target as intended, either trying to disarm, maim or kill them.

You are able to stave off multiple targets with your speed of draw.

You are able to delay the battle allowing innocent bystanders to retreat from danger.

You are able to find near cover (like a barrel, box or water trough) to avoid being hit yourself.

If during the spotlight of the sun above, take +1 forward as the town witnesses your greatness.

If during the looming presence of night, you are able to detect others trying to get behind you.

  2. When a new train comes to town, name someone you’re avoiding and roll with their Faction. On a hit, someone connected to that person get’s off the train; maybe they’re a friend and maybe they’re not. On a 10+, they’re a friend, for now. On a miss, they’ve finally caught up with you; best make sure you’re ready for ’em.

My best attempt at 8 in the morning. 😀

  3. Sometimes despite how skillful and smart you, you need the help of a posse to ride out against those that have wronged you. When you come into town to call out a posse, roll with help (how many groups of individuals you have helped that day. ie. You have helped a family, so that is roll plus 1.) On a 10+, you are able to obtain a small group of individuals (4-6) to ride out at your side. You can offer the individuals debt to increase the number of people who will aid you or the fervor in which they will go to help you. On a 7-9, the small group will come to your aid, but they are unwilling to help you for free, wanting something in return.

  4. You may want to sit at the table hoping to gain money, prestige or recognition through gambling. If you do it

by knowledge of the game, roll with mind.

    through intimidation, roll with blood.

by either cheating or smooth talking, roll with heart.

    On a 10+, pick 2. On a 7-9, pick 1.

You win the hand, giving you a lot of cash …. and clout.

You have made some per sucker quite broke, they now owe a debt with you.

Your winning ways could spread through the streams of gossip.

  5. Will look through all of the moves and do some editing over the next week. Thanks Andrew Medeiros, this is a good start for a Western style game. BTW, my cousin and I will be recording it hoping to put Urban Shadows via this Western on Comic Strip ap.
