I’ve got a story arc going on where public perception of the team is as complicated as its ever been and I’m having fun playing around with a custom move that emphasizes the caprice of popularity and the fragility of teenage egos.
When you check your own hashtag to see what people have to say about you, roll+superior. On a hit, the wholesome memes are me gusta: hold 1 Fan, and spend it at any time for sudden, reasonable civilian assistance.
On a 10+, both of these are true; on a 7-9, choose one:
• The shitposting is fine… you’re fine. Don’t immediately give Influence to “The Internet.”
• Untag me thx. You’re informed of a lead or opportunity relevant to your heroic identity.
On a miss, you start typing. Why are you typing. Don’t do that. Don’t post that. Why did you post that? Immediately give Influence to “The Internet,” and the GM holds 1 Hatefollow that can be spent at any time to unexpectedly complicate a civilian interaction.
I like this more than my internet move! I think I’ll revise that one with stuff I like from this one.

I really love the Move Alfred Rudzki. I was thinking of a Masks game that deals with Superheroes in the age of the Internet, and, with you permission, I’ll pinch that move for it.

For the purposes of the game. I’ve made a few minor tweaks, mostly associated with triggering the Move, so it can be made in response to some sort stimulus, this is just to stop players feeling like they can just click the refresh button to make the move.
That’s fair — I did a similar thing when I wrote it down in my notebook. The trigger I went with was when you scroll up and down your hashtag, for hours or after making a scene or something similar.
yep, that’s the sort of thing I was thinking of: “when you do something to draw public attention…”
For the moment, I have decided not to use an attribute. Although Superior seems like the right Stat, there are already 2 moves (Assess, Provoke) that use it, so I’m going to try:
When you do something that draws public attention, and spend hours checking your own hashtag, to see what people have to say about you, roll.
+1 if the act was generally viewed favorably, +0 if it split public opinion, -1 if it was unfavorably viewed.
Sure, go for it. This is a custom move just for this arc, an arc that has a lot of PCs struggling with Superior, so this is very much rooted in that context.
