Hi everyone, I’m going to do my first run with urban shadows this week. I usually watch some of fantasy series or films to inspire me when i go to play dungeon world. Do you recommend me to do the same?

which series or films do you recommend me?

  1. Lost Girl on Netflix is good (for the first few seasons). It’s what inspired much of my US game.

    I wonder if the Blade films would be good. Haven’t seen them in years.

  2. I think it really depends which playbooks will appear in your game.

    Blade movies can be good if you have a Hunter.

    Devil’s Advocate if you have a tainted, because his patron will be big deal in the game.

    You might also want to read some Dresden Files books, as those are good showcase for Wizards and political game.

  3. Being Human (a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf are flatmates) is useful for trying to figure out these characters can interact. It’s great material for a Spectre too. The old VtM based TV show Kindred the Embraced is good for Vamps.

  4. Colin Spears haha – I’m doing my US campaign together with some of the Voice Actors from the swedish dub of Shadowhunters – let’s just say I have to almost fight off the suggestions that are just blatantly ripped off from the series.

    But theres lots of great material there.
