That’s basically how I do it – a shared drawing space for us to graffiti on. Maybe a piece of paper in the centre of the table, or a whiteboard, or an online drawing website.
I go for a collection of squared A3 sheets – where we track the evolution and certain specific / smaller locations.
I made a map and printed it on A3. We mark locations and such straight on the map.
