I’ve finally got a group of people to run a game of WWRPG

Most are new to RPG’s in general

I’m going to start with just a one-shot and hopefully they have a good time and tell more people and that can eventually lead to having a large enough group to do it semi regularly.

I am just wondering if people have had any feedback on momentum for the first game. I’m thinking that going with the starting amount of 1 could go fairly quick. So, was looking at if people had had luck with running the first game with a higher amount of Momentum and what was good and what was to much that it just ruined the game?

  1. Play it Rules-As-Written. Play to see what happens. That game is amazing as hell.

The one lesson I can pass to you and your players is to get out of the traditional, “advocating for your guy” mentality. You’re putting on a show. It’s wrestling. Which goes double when you’re a Jobber.

  2. I find PbtA games work best when people haven’t roleplayed before. It is designed as a floor up retool of the process. Good luck with it! I am sure it will be fun.

  3. More of a play tip – if folks feel like they’re starved for Momentum, take a look at their highest stat and encourage them to make the basic Moves that use it. Most Moves give Momentum on 7-9s, so play to their strengths. Also, everyone gets the Cheap Pop, so make sure they use that as well!
