I’ve been doing a bit of reading up on Urban Shadows for a possible near-future game, and there was something I was wondering if I could get some clarifications on.

For the Tainted, a couple of things on their list of ‘cash in a Debt’ options are to have your patron “answer a question (honestly) about their Faction” or “introduce you to a powerful member of their Faction,” same as you could with any NPC.

What is the patron’s Faction? Is there an assumed default (one would assume Wild) or is that in cases where — as a random, off-the-cuff example — the dark patron is secretly running a network of vampires and operating among Night? Or is there something I’ve misunderstood about the move?

  1. And since the Tainted can change faction as well, they can still ask their patron for a Wild favor. Just because you go white hat doesn’t mean the Devil doesn’t have his hooks in you, and that’s a 2 way street.
