As part of my ‘system basics’ section in my current book, I thought I’d chart out the flow of the conversation, moves, gm reactions. Here’s the current version – comments/feedback/reactions welcome!

  1. Very cool!

    Here are my suggestions:

    Remove period after Koebel

    “GM and Players discussing…” -> “GM and Players discuss…”

    “the reactions of their characters etc.” -> “the responses of their characters, etc.”

    “A player describes an action their character is taking.” -> “When a player describes an action their character is taking, follow this path”

    “Players look to the GM to see what happens” -> “When one or more players look to the GM to see what happens, follow this path”

    “repurcussions” -> “repercussions”

    The “No” response after “Is this a move?” is the only place that joins an existing line; my eyes get momentarily confused as to which direction to go at the T. Perhaps it would be easier for me to follow if multiple lines are maintained, like with those leading to “GM makes a reaction…”? Or perhaps if there was a visual cue to the circular direction (clockwise) I should consistently follow when navigating the flowchart?

  2. Very cool. I often find that GMS feel guilty about making moves when the player look to the GM or where there are established repercussions and I like how this chart makes this clear.
