Also – we have so much great content that I’m considering doing an expansion. Let me put this before you guys. Would you rather:
have a higher funding goal for Kickstarter, but get a 48-52 page, perfect-bound zine? (the full PDF will also be available as a reward on its own.)
OR
maintain a lower funding goal, but get a 36 page, saddle-stitched zine, with a PDF that has all 52 pages. (full PDF will be available as a reward on its own.)
Or maybe pitch the smaller hardcopy and make the larger one a stretch goal?
Henry de Veuve Yes, that’s what would happen if I set the initial goal at the lower funding, but it would cause a bit more of a complication, because I would still have to limit the number of zines.
Basically if the second were chosen, this is how the unlocked/rewards tiers would go:
1 – 100 Small Zines Funded – 100 people get a 36 page zine, and the 52 page zine is available as PDF
2 – Pay increase for contributors from $5 to $10
3 – Zine boosted for 100 people, they get the 52-is page zine.
4 – 100 more 52-ish page zines available
Unfortunately the big this is that printing + shipping these things is pretty expensive. I’d love to have enough people back at the PDF only level so we would be able to release all the extra pages and big perfect bound zine, but I don’t want to bank on that happening. I want to make sure that the KS can deliver on every goal, and get the best, most practical product to the most people.
I’m a PDF only kind of guy, but my preference would be for achievable goals first. You can always have a second KS for the ‘perfect’ edition.

Todd Zircher i’m gonna pray there are plenty who want the PDF only, tbh. that’s what will keep the zine from being too expensive for print. The PDF-only reward will be available in the Full Size no matter what.
The question I guess is what is your US to non-US ratio. Shipping is always the killer for bigger books, and why PDF is always the best option outside the USA.

David Bent we will only be shipping the physical zine to the US. if someone wants to message me personally about getting a physical zine to the UK or CAN or elsewhere…i’ll see what i can do lol.
