Hi everybody.

Hi everybody.

Hi everybody.

I have some doubts regarding Drive Books. Hopefully you can shed some light into these issues that are worrying me.

Are the player limited to one of those? If so, what happens when the book is completely unlocked? Time to move to a new one? Old one moves are gone or are they still accessible to the player?

Since there are advancements that need more than three achievements, how can it be made since some Drive Books offer just three achievements? (the first of them when book is unlocked and one per unlocked move)

What does the psychological profile in the PC Sheet serve for? How and when is it suppossed to be filled?

Thank you in advance.

  1. Players start the game with only a single Drive book unlocked, but the amount of drive books a player can be working towards at any one time is not limited in any way. If something happens that would gain a player a new drivebook, then it opens – that’s what the “open” triggers are for. I’ve had players working towards anywhere from 4-7 drivebooks at the same time.

For the psychological profile, i’m reasonably sure that it’s just a flavour thing for the player to fill in for himself.

  2. Not sure if I agree with you. During PC creation you have to choose one Drive Book (and only one) wich remains locked until you effectively unlock it by means of the fiction. It is not open by default.

With this selection in mind you can work towards the opening of the Book and linked moves. Maybe you can select during the play another Drive Book to compliment the former one but I would find it rather hard to have in mind all the opening triggers for every single Drive Book.

Said that, I find logical to have the chance to pursue another Motivations during a long campaign or several sessions. In fact it is implied in the Achievements section of the book. There are options provided for more than 4 achievements, a number which cannot be reached with just one Drive Book. BUT in the same section it is stated _”When you chose your Drive book you probably noticed how there were requirements to open the book and requirements for when a move was “available to open.” A Drive Book is all about showing the current motivation of your hero, so you need to show your character working towards specific goals, as per the Drive book you choose

for your hero.”_ For me, not being a native speaker, sounds like there is only Drive Book active at the same time.

But, Is the number of Drive Books you can have simultaneously as targets ruled somewhere ? Or, is the rationale of the fiction which gives the clues?

  3. By default, you only choose a Drive Book to work towards at character creation but don’t start with it or the moves inside it unlocked.

The Psychological Profile you can use to write in stuff about your character, put in Drive Books and moves you’ve already unlocked, or both.

You can work towards multiple books if you want, as long as you think you can handle it and it makes sense for your character (but I suggest working towards one at a time and focusing on an interesting character development arc before moving on to another one).

If you unlock a book and moves within it you keep them and they don’t get closed off when you move on to another book.
