I ran this at Camp Nerdly and everyone seemed to have a good time, some good feedback I got was:

* make sure to stress how mechanically important Momentum, Heat, and Audience can be

* have a print out of the wrestling move pictures

Edit:

The Wrestlers:

Long Arm: The Gatekeeper played by Mark Causey

Baba Yaga: The Monster; played by Kelley Vanda

Animal: The Hardcore played by Richard Rogers

Tractor: The Jobber played by William Nichols

El Chupacabra: The High-Flyer played by Paul Edson

Booster Rocket: The Veteran played by E.T. Smith

Some Highlights: Animal was scheduled to wrestler Tractor after Tractors return from an Injury, Animal not even knowing who Tractor was demanded a match with Baba Yaga in addition.

Tractor vs Animal: Tractor tried to steal the victory and the fans loved it! In the end, Animal won the match breaking kayfabe right back.

Another insanely fun moment came during the match between Baba Yaga and Animal, Baba using her monster move that lets her have a specialty match, made the ring a Russian winter match, where the mat was replaced with ‘ice’, and at one point Baba squatted over animal and shouted “Baba Yaga has given birth to a new daughter!” then slid Animal across the ring as the fans ate it up.

Early on, El Chupacabra botched a promo, so right before his scheduled title match with Booster Rocket, creative came to him and told him the HARD move; Turn face during this match, or you’re going to become the new Tractor.  The look on Pauls face was priceless.

He totally turned face, and the Veteran, who had been trying to hold the High-flyer back, let him win clean, only for Tractor to try and run out to stop iit all!  But he botched that roll, and didn’t have the momentum, so Long Arm just knocked him down on the way to the ring.

A fun time and while we started with 4 heels and 2 faces, we ended with 4 faces and 2 heels!

  1. Yeah, there’s a seperate little section on page 25 calling out the Momentum->Heat->Audience cycle that comes straight from me not doing your first point during playtesting!

  2. Sounds like a good time! I ran a small three person game a week and a half ago, which I did in part to help me learn how to introduce the mechanics. It went okay, but I wish I had your first point with me at the time.
