My mind is on fire but, unfortunately, my throath is also on fire and I lost my voice since yesterday.

I hope I’ll find a way to get rid of one of my Injury checks before the big game. I’m not sure that the Creative is supposed to whisper during a WWWRPG session (didn’t see that in the Agenda).

  1. Ok so let’s talk about it. I haven’t retrieve my voice yet so I have the time to write.

    The convention

I played the game at Octogônes, a french conv in Lyon. “Gône” is a slang word meaning Lyon’s inhabitant.

The conv takes place in a big hangar and it’s very crowded and therefore noisy.

    My players

I began with 5 players. Two of them were friends of mine and the other three were unknown to me.

One of them left the table before his first fight. He pretended his girlfriend was injured and he had to go to the hospital. We’ll never know if the injury was legit or part of his own personnal kayfabe.

From the 4 lastings players two of them knew more than me about wrestling. One of them was friend with some announcers from the french wrestling scene and the other one always made references to wrestlers unknown to me.

I wanted to make it look like I had planned it that way all along so I always answered: “yes of course but tell us more about him for the other players”.

    I’m a master of illusions.

None of the players (except for me) had ever played a game powered by the Apocalypse.

    The characters

Three of the characters were former citizens of communist countries. All secretely wanted to re-establish a communist state in the U.S. of A. They were Heels of course (with one Anti-Hero who tooks the “Anything you need to do to win”).

There were Vlad the Red from Ukraine, Jen Bien Phu a vietnamese and Big Marx a giant russian with giant mustaches.

There was a babyface, a jobber, Joe the plumber. A good, sympathetic american.

    The tournament

The setting of the game was France. The players were invited to participate in tournament in Lyon named “Gône a fight”.

They met two famous french wrestlers :

    *Jacques 68, a wine-loving hedonist

*Damien de Dupont, triple D, a kind of french Triple H. Former nobility, always wearing a white tuxedo (he always teared it before his fights, letting the audience admires his muscles).

The judges and the referee were corrupted by Triple D.

    What happened?

    A lot of fights…

1)Joe the plumber VS Jen Bien Phu, his former tag partner

2)Vlad the Red VS Jacques 68

Jacques used a glass bottle on Vlad to finish him, the referee was corrupted and looked at triple D on the audience before accepting his victory

    3)Big Marx vs Triple D

Triple D used a cane to hit Big Marx, the corrupted referee accepted it because it was “prescribed by Triple D’s doctor (“for his back”).

Vlad interfered and attacked the referee which led to an awesome 2VS2 battle

4)Big Marx+Vlad VS Triple D+Joe the Plumber, in a cage, with no referee

Joe the plumber accepted to fight with Triple D (“because America always helped France”) and the fight was awesome.

There were some very funny on-camera sequences (too many to list them).

We tried one off-camera scene with the wrestler discussing about the following fight but it was lame. We quickly ended it and returned to a 100% on-camera game.

    The rules

I’d say that the players used 70% of the mecanics.

They forgot some moves (no announcer used a Put On move for example) and only the Jobber player was really playing to win Audience (creating a lot of feuds).

It was difficult for the players to get the flow of the wrestling conversation during the first two fights. The game is about building a conversation together, it needs some training and I had to answer some questions (“how far can I described the others wrestlers option when I’m in control?”).

But it definitely clicked during the Vlad VS Jacques 68 fight and we actually loved the dynamic of the conversation(s) with the Creative triggering the moves, the announcer putting the (non existent) audience on fire and the wrestlers working together on their fight.
