so, played in lowell’s game today and again i’m having concerns about how to build positive heat between wrestlers. I got lucky tonight in that i was thrown into a royal rumble with the character i wanted to build positive heat with, allowing me to use my face move to gain heat, but apart from this it seems like the only reliable way to build heat (to the point you can get tag teamed) is through promo.

It does seem strange that you can’t use face moves to build positive heat as it only lets you gain heat with your opponent.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Masks, masks are important, they are as much as part of a gimmick as the name of the wrestler.

Masks, masks are important, they are as much as part of a gimmick as the name of the wrestler. Why is it then so so many people rush to unmask their opponent in their first match of a fued rather than waiting for a big narrative payoff (like a PPV Match).

Something i’ve been considering for my games is that removing your opponent’s mask in a match where it’s not on the line requires the acting character to “Break Kayfabe” but even then i’m wondering if as creative i should be using my own moves to help protect the mask until such as time as it’s dramatically and narratively important.

What do people do in their own games? anybody have any thoughts on this?

Anybody able to sanity check the following match stipulation for me.

Anybody able to sanity check the following match stipulation for me.

Does this thematically work?

Match Stipulation: CAGE MATCH

Wrestlers must pay 2 Momentum to use the Run-in move. Characters using the Run-in move use +Look (to climb the walls) or +Power (To rip open the cage door) instead of +Heat.

Any move from the top of the Cage uses +Look.

The match can be won normally by pinfall and submission (Subject to Creative’s booking), or by using the move below to attempt to exit the Cage.

There is no DQ in a CAGE MATCH and the Champions Advantage more may not be used. Once the match begins, Heels may not use the HEEL move to get out of the match.

Characters used the following CAGE MATCH move instead of the normal WRESTLING Move.

10+ Pick one of the following options; Gain +2 Momentum, Gain +1 Heat, If you rolled +Look you may choose to Win the Match (This changes who is booked to win the match. Your opponent may Prevent this using the INTERUPT move)

7-9 Pick one; Keep control and move to the next sequence. Gain +1 Momentum and pass control to your opponent.

2-6 Pass control to your opponent and your opponent picks one: You are Injured, Your opponent is Injured, Give +1 Momentum to your opponent (If you have no Momentum to give your opponent Wins the match.)

So, after last nights royal rumble/eton mess/bull of the ring match i got thinking, there isnt a wide variety of ways to build positive heat with people in the system beyond promos.

Both the Heel and the Face move allow you to build heat with a opponent, but there are few ways to build heat with friends so it means really you only have a chance to form dedicated tag teams with your enemies, which doesn’t seem right.

Personally i’d want to change the Face move to allow you to build heat with the people you are helping/standing up for, for instance, but beyond that, i’m not sure i have a solution for this.

Equally, the manager has ways to gaining heat with their client, but there doesn’t seem to be many ways to have the client gain heat with the manager.

anybody have any thoughts?

D: Hi there, I’m Donny Moolah and i’m joined here tonight with my Broadcast colleague Ralph O’Reigh as we welcome you to a packed Roderick Toombs Memorial Arena in the beautiful city of Glasgow, Scotland.

R: That’s right Donny, Tonight we’ll see the cream of the crop of World wrestling take to this, the theatre of kings to prove their all and show they have what it takes.

D: Tonight you’ll see such superstars as Ragin’ Rod as he defends the GwoW Championship against all comers.

R: And of course, all eyes will be on Big Buddy, the holder of the most prestigious title in GwoW, The All Star Belt.

D: Buddy has done well to hold on to that belt as long as he has Ralph, Surely it’s only a matter of time before a younger and more hungry competitor takes it from it.

R: Only time will tell Donny, but I think your selling him short. Big Buddy has been the rock this company has been built on. The will to win is strong in him and I predict he’s got more fight left in him than you think.

D: Anyway, Speaking of younger and more hungry competitors, Tonight sees the return of the Titan that is A. P. Glen door.

R: I think you’ll find that’s Ap Glyn Dwr, Donny, You should be careful, you know he gets excitable when people get his name wrong.

D: Dully noted Ralph, Dully Noted.

R: And also joining us tonight is that darling of the amateur scene who did good. The King of Cool, The Prime minister of Sinister, Chester Talbot.

D: I don’t know Ralph, he doesn’t seem to have that drive to go that extra mile to win that screams future champion to me.

R: What you mean Donny, is that he’s got a code of honour and that’s something every truly great champion has to have.

D: We’ll have to agree to disagree then Ralph.

R: What ever

D: So, it’s that time that we turn to the ring for the start of our show tonight. Welcome to Gauntlet World of Wrestling!!!
