Hello!

Hello!

Hello! First time posting – in the community and also on Google+. I wanted to share a collection of Skins I’ve made: Artist, Cupid, Erinys, Jinni, Mannequin, Phoenix, Sphinx, and Trickster. Art is from stock websites and edited by myself (credit in the bottom left of the first page of each skin). I’d appreciate comments, and if anyone gives them a go I hope you enjoy them! They’ve been most enjoyable in play.

Looking for one player for a new Monsterhearts campaign*

To start of the new year our regular group decided it was time for a new and familiar game. And we decided to go with Monster Hearts. Now to fill out our group to four regular players and GM we are looking for one more player

We play weekly on Saturday on 19:00 through 23:00 CEST on Hangouts.

Requirements Camera and good microphone.

If you like MonsterHearts and/or PbtA games and you’re interested send me a message or reply to this thread.

As people were so helpful before, I’m asking for more feedback.

Single-minded

At the start of the session, write down a goal you are working towards if you don’t already have one. At the end of the session, mark XP if you made noticeable progress towards reaching that goal. When you achieve the thing you were working towards, cross it off your sheet.

Eh. I dunno if I’m happy with that move. Again it’s for The Ox, and is trying to encourage the player to be a single-minded, goal oriented type character. Slow and steady, one foot in front of the other, one thing at a time.

Maybe there’s a way to do something similar without actually forcing the player to write down the goal. Or maybe it needs to be a roll move. Something like:

Single-minded

At the start of the session, write down a goal you are working towards if you don’t already have one.

When you make clear progress towards achieving your goal, roll with Dark. On a 7 up, the MC will tell you what the most likely next step is. On a 7-9, choose one:

– the next step involves heavy physical labor;

– the next step involves working with someone, the MC will say who;

– the next step involves sacrificing something, the MC will say what.

Hmm… Still not sure about that one either. I think I need to sleep on this. :/

Ruminate

When you take some time to slowly and methodically consider your options, give the MC a String on you. Then ask them, or a player whose character is directly involved in the situation, what your best course of action is; that player must answer you honestly.

The idea here is to encourage the player to be a slow, methodical thinker. Someone who considers all their options before taking action, sometimes to the point of letting an opportunity pass them by. Because the String goes to the MC in general rather than a specific character, I think that limits what the MC can do with that String. Thoughts? Does it seem like a fair trade-off, or should I find another way to encourage, slow, methodical thought?

Sooo, I need some ideas.

Sooo, I need some ideas.

Sooo, I need some ideas.

I’ve been approached to run a Penny Dreadful inspired game. Initally I was thinking Monster of the week, but after some dutiful pondering, I believe that Monsterhearts is the better fit.  The drama is personal and relationship based, with the ‘monster hunting’ an aside to the true interpersonal conflicts of the genre. The characters are after all Victorian monsters in an adult setting, despite acting like irreverent teens most of the time.

So I can barf forth Victoriana till the proverbial cows come home, but I’m struggling with starting the game. The chargen seems to slide over seamlessly, so long as one takes the milieu as a given. But what of the next step? A grabby ‘in media res’ situation? Follow the characters around a little?

Any suggestions or ideas on how to make the game a success would be greatly appreciated!
