My play-tester backed out of our session this evening (Thursday, 8:30pmET). Anyone interested in jumping in?

What it is:

Lonesome World, a one-on-one PbtA Western-themed RPG

(one-on-one = one GM, one player)

Where it’s at:

Still in friends-n-family testing, but we’re all family here, right?

How we do:

I like using Google Hangouts for chat and Roll20.net for managing dice and such.

If you’re available and interested, drop me a line. If interested (but not available tonight) drop me a line any way, and we’ll set up another time.

Thanks!

Dear Apocalyptians!

Dear Apocalyptians!

Dear Apocalyptians!

I’m working on a series of Monster of the Week mysteries called Monsters of Europe. They began as my humble protest against the Americanization of the Modern Monster Hunting genre and developed into a series of experiments with MotW rules and PbtA principles in general.

They present situation but don’t tell stories, each provides deeply personal motivations for the monster hunts. Two of the three already published contain loads of custom moves to color the threats while the third one, “It’s still Sparta!”, starts with a gigantic teaser with players controlling temporary characters given to them like Love Letters.

I’m putting lots of heart and thought into each of those mysteries and I hope you’ll find them interesting. So far my 25+ test players for various mysteries from this series loved all of them 🙂

They’re published by GRAmel and available on DriveThruRPG, link below:

This is a preview of the rules of a high-fantasy PbtA game I’ve been working on, called Land of the God-kings. This preview introduces the basic moves, the concept of Armies and Followers, the Primal, Immortal, Monarch, and Shadow playbooks, and well as the Monster and Martial follower playbooks. Any feedback would be appreciated. Enjoy!

I’ve written out a draft of some of the playbooks for the high-fantasy game I’m working on, inspired by a friend deciding they wanted to play characters like Sauron or Smaug instead of Aragorn or Frodo. This game takes heavy inspiration from mythology and high-fantasy tropes, as well as games like Exalted, High-level D&D, and Godsend.

These playbooks are for the Primal, a being that is more like a force of nature than an actual creature, inspired by dragons, Fenris the wolf from Norse mythology, and the like, and the Immortal, an undead, construct, elf, or otherwise unaging being, inspired by the likes of Celabrimbor (hope I spelled that right) from the shadow of war video games, and the T’lan Imass from the Malazan book of the Fallen.

Any critiques or thoughts would be much appreciated!

Continuing my recap of our co-MC’ed Apocalypse World game. Last session we lost the captain of the Carnival. Now we deal with the rudderless crew and introduce a new player character, a mystic rival to the tribal. Has Hiccup been corrupted? Are there really reavers at their next port of call? Will the gunlugger seize control of the ship?
