I have been wanting to play using an open ended magic system. I created a first draft of an archetype. The Mage understands that reality is shaped by the thoughts of everyone around him, and has learned to manipulate it according to his desires. He has to fight against the beliefs of others.

What do you think? Inspired by Mage: The Ascension, and the DW Druid Elementalist move. I know about the World of Darkness hacks but the Awakening stuff isn’t really open ended.

Also see my other thread for The Alchemist. What would you add or change?

Just wanted to check in before I started working on something.

Is there anything like The Parasite? I’m picturing a brain-controlling insect of some kind ala Supernatural.  Also similar to Animorph villians, but that’s likely slightly less commonly referred to.

In honor of the pdf release of Urban Shadows, I wanted to share a custom Archetype I’ve been working on.

In honor of the pdf release of Urban Shadows, I wanted to share a custom Archetype I’ve been working on. The Elemental is a barely-contained inferno, an unstoppable force of nature who’d wreck this city if they weren’t so easily manipulated by the powerful. Maybe there’s more to life, though, than just hurricanes and plagues? Only one way to find out.

This is far from a finalized version, and there are a few moves I’m still a little unhappy with, so any sort of feedback would be appreciated. Also, if someone ends up using this Archetype in play, let me know! That’d be awesome.

Gotta say, Sombras Urbanas sounds way cooler than Urban Shadows. 😀

Just wondering: other PbtA games have made playbook templates available for those looking to design their own…

I’m looking for the US WoD hack, but all the links seems to be broken :(

Is this project still alive?

Okay, it’s Round 2 on my “inspired by Fate/stay night” archetype!

Okay, it’s Round 2 on my “inspired by Fate/stay night” archetype! This time, I’ve gotten a much tighter focus since I’ve been watching more Unlimited Blade Works; the Heroic Purpose starting move comes directly out of that.

I decided to focus squarely on the Servant for this one; either you’ve got a mage-type in the group who makes for a good summoner, or maybe there’s something else going on with one of the players. (The Wolf summons an ancient hero? It could happen!) Failing that, there’s always the possibility of an NPC being your summoner. Any way you slice it, that should tie the Servant heavily into the group dynamics and the plotting!

This is an archetype I made for one of my players.  Just wanted to share and maybe get your thoughts on it.

World Info-

-The Fae Realm is another plane that shadows the real world, but is much more natural. It’s dominated by forests, swamps, and jungles.

-Creatures that enter the real world automatically assume human form, while creatures that enter the Fae Realm must assume their true form.

-Dragons, Fae, and Fairies hail from the Fae Realm

Is there a fan-made Chosen archetype?

Is there a fan-made Chosen archetype?

Is there a fan-made Chosen archetype? It came to me that there’s a Chosen in Monster of the Week and Monsterhearts, but not here (not to say that there’s any sort of requirement, but it sparked a thought…). And maybe it doesn’t seem like a good fit initially…

…but I think a Chosen would make an amazing loose cannon in a city. They have a destiny; who do they make deals with to see that destiny through? Who tries to manipulate them for their own purposes? After all, a destined champion is basically a cruise missile for those who know how to handle them.

Hmm, once I finish revamping the Heroic Servant playbook, I may have to turn my eye to this.

Hey everyone. Here’s a new archetype I’ve whipped up and wouldn’t mind getting some feed back on: The Outsider.

This is meant to be character that new players jumping in late in a story could use and still have their chance to influence the setting.

The archetype is a bit more overt for customization, representing someone coming different place, entering a unknown and unknowing city. Their moves work to blur and redefine lines in the setting. Their strong memories of their past can push them in helping those they’ve connected with in this city, but it can also turned against them. They’re the new wild card element in town, causing a big stirs, that cause everyone take notice.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
