Rules doubt: Advancement –> ‘A move from another archetype’

Rules doubt: Advancement –> ‘A move from another archetype’

May a player choose the main move from another archetype? By main I mean the move that is preselected for that archetype.

I know you may not get extras from another playbook by choosing a move from that playbook that references it. That is, you may not chose Channeling from the Wizard playbook to get access to wizard spells, because spells are an extra. But, what happens to moves that do not grant you any extra?

Example:

Lets say I play a Wolf playbook. I do not only slash and kill my enemies, but I also eat their hearts in front of the pack. After a few sessions, I choose an advancement and mark ‘A move from another playbook’. That move is ‘Eternal Hunger’ from the Vamp playbook. That move does not grant you any extra, but it is the basic Vamp move that comes preselected for Vamps.

I am not infected by vampirism, I do not want any vamp web or such, so I do not wish to use the ‘Change to another archetype’ advancement. I just think that move would fit very well to my savage, heart-eater wolf.

Is that allowed by the rules?

Some doubts arose in our game this afternoon:

– One of the PCs is a vampire and the question is regarding its web. What if someone asks her to pay a debt and do X? Do they get entangled in the vampire’s web for requesting a favor and come out with a debt to the vampire even when they came to demand a prior debt to be paid? Do they get entangled in your web and debt you even if you Refuse to pay that debt? Does just the mere fact of asking qualify?

Or does it not apply because the favor is the payment for a debt, so you only get entangled in the vampire’s web when you come to ask with nothing to back you ??

– What if the vampire Puts a face to a name and gets a 10+? The NPC owes him a debt. Does that also mean the NPC is in her web?

– Can you Mislead, distract or trick someone into asking you something and thus entering your web and owing you 1 debt?

Hi Meguey Baker, Vincent Baker

I’d like to translate into Spanish AW2’s free material (moves & playbooks).

We have a Spanish translation of the 1st edition book, but 2nd edition book hasn’t been translated. I’d like to have all reference sheets in Spanish for my players, updated to 2nd Edition.

Is it posible to have an editable version of those sheets? Is it possible at least to know the fonts used to try to keep the style?

Hi Fraser Simons

I’ve read a little of the Cascade preview you gave us backers recently. I see you have 2 pinterest collections for inspiration (towards the end of the book), but when I click they do not work. I don’t know whether they are not ready yet or my pdf reader does not get it.

Either way, could you post them here?

Thx!

Hi Fraser Simons,

I have one question regarding Glitch City. When you talk to the Manikin Man, there is something in the 7-9 result I don’t completly grasp.

On a 7-9, the Manikin Man will provide a choice: A terrible secret or a beautiful moment from one of your memories lost to you, as chosen by the player sitting to your left. If they choose a terrible secret they take +1 forward and marks XP. If a beautiful moment they take -1 forward. Whichever is chosen the player who rolled the move describes their memory.

Is the person to your left, the one who makes the choice, also the person to get the +1 and XP or the -1 ?? Or does he only choose it and it is you who gets that?

Worlds in Peril thoughts?

I really enjoyed running Worlds in Peril and found a lot that I preferred to Marvel Heroic (my previous “go to” supers game). However, there were some things that I felt weren’t quite fully baked.

I have been thinking of trying my hand at hacking it.

If you are a supers fan and have played WiP, what were some things about the system you think could be improved?
