I’m currently running a game set in the Babylon 5 universe. The players are an advanced party making sure a Moon is ready for a diplomatic party to arrive. While they have naturally met with some problems (mostly dealt with by ‘ahem’ forceful diplomatic measures. A couple of questions have come up that have made us all scratch our heads.

1 party member has befriended a local business woman (leisure sector) and has on several occasions called on her for help staffing functions. Having got on applicable he bit the bullet and out of game took the ‘Relate’ advancement. What does this actually mean? Has become the question.

Did he lose all the favours and debt, this NPC now being willing to help in all but the most dangerous of issues? Or ??

Mean while they are also dealing with mysterious tech issues and another character wants to call in special help, with a view of eventually adding them to their personal staff. Would I be right in thinking this runs the line of taking a debt with the crews normal managers to get them assigned and then later taking a ‘crew’ advancement from a career or the luxury one to get a personal assistant?

Thanks Richard

A quick question. My group have a couple of crews, a class 1 numerous tech crew and a class 0 Security crew.

Initially handed out, because as part of the colony it made sense but the tech crew have become there own character. The players naturally want to upgrade them. For the first time I’ve said everyone can donate an XP point but I was wandering how other people have handled this? (Have I some how missed a line somewhere explaining how you upgrade them in game?)

Also is there an upper limit to how far a crew could be upgraded?

Edit…

Also, I’ve just been looking, but I can’t see an actual list. I assume actual disposition’s are narrative and other than loyal, there isn’t an actual list. So I could presumably use tags like tired, angry and shocked ?

Another quick question, I was doing assets for some pregens for an up coming convention here in the UK and I just wanted to see what people think of this way to make drones.

One character comes from a mining background and I wanted to give him something a bit different, then I saw the following upgrades under grenades..

(Grenade) Mining Drone

(Class 2)

UPG: Seeking (Grenade/Missile only.) Used with +Interface, seeks target before exploding.

UPG: Scanner Sends back telemetry needed to perform an Assessment. Non-lethal.

If I hand wave a Lvl 0 control unit for them (easily hacked 😉 ) was the intent that you could make reusuable drones?

If I may a quick question.

If I may a quick question. Just getting ready to run a game tomorrow and, came across the rule that melee class 0 weapons have a free upgrade. Does this mean that class 1 Melee weapons have 2 free upgrades?

Apologies for asking a question I’m assuming has been asked, but I couldn’t find it

Am I right in thinking Beyond Humanity is waiting in the wings, something to look forward to later in the year?

Quick prep question as we’re nearing Conception here in the UK. How much effort do people put into NPC’s for there games?

Does any one give there PCs special moves based on their plans / presence in the story. Or just a brief background / goals?

Hi All

Hi All

Hi All

I was wandering if anyone had any suggestions on  or examples of the prep work they have done ahead of running.

I recently run my first couple of games at Wyntercon (in East Bourne, UK)  and had a blast with 2 very different games. I did a very minimal set up of simple asking the following

1. How did you come by the cargo in the back?

2. How did you get the shuttle your on and who is flying?

3. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?

4. How long have you known each other?

Do people do more than this?

The two games I run for complete newbies were so different but huge fun. every one having a blast. But as a ref I felt liek I maybe shold hvae had a bit more prep done.

Here’s what happened by the way for those interested..

The First saw 2 of the group actually having hired the other 3 to snatch a crate that had a droids head in it they then paid in fake diamonds but ended up having to kidnapp one of the 3 when they peaked at the cargo (something they had been told not to do and the first 2 panicked)

what proceeded was a huge run of clamities as no body could roll much better than 8, people were arrested by customs following the shortest, slowest star ship chase in history. Ships were impounded, a jail brake arranged and a plot to stage a coup was revealed and only just stopped at the cost of part of a star port.

The second time we some how ended up in a Star Wars adventure as a Star Destroyer came out of Hyperspace and proceeded to dismantle a Black Sun pirate ship in a bid to find a crate they had stolen that contained (as it turned out) the upper half of a protcol droid that had information about deeply placed spys in the rebel alliance (one of the players was ex-rebel, having gone Merc as it paid better.) The players had just stolen the crate from black Sun.

They then hot footed it to an old rebel base (the Star Destroyer in hot pursuit) only to find that while it had been largely abandoned a year earlier Ackbar and a small force had returtned and were pinned down by a second set of Imperial forces who had been hunting the famous Rebel. Luckily they managed to sneak on to the planet, free Ackbar and hand over the intellgence.
