I’m starting a PbP on Tavern Keeper. I’d like at least 1-2 more folks, though I can take up to 4 or so more people, I think. If you’re interested, check it out:

We’ve got a Mortal and a Queen so far, and looking for more folks — the setting is a small town high school with a strong class divide.

I am contemplating more fully a Monsterhearts MU.

I am contemplating more fully a Monsterhearts MU. I think I would want a few more skins that are “mundane” in character, like the Mortal and the Queen — I think the contrast is helpful, especially when player interaction will be doing some of the heavy lifting.

I haven’t sat down to write skins, but I am considering maybe some sort of Jock skin, some sort of Rich Kid skin, and maybe some sort of Outsider skin.

The Jock might be designed to tell stories about how sometimes, being physically strong just isn’t enough.

The Rich Kid (maybe “The Entitled”) might have some move that gives her access to wealth — and much like the Jock, be designed for stories about how mortal wealth isn’t enough.

The Outsider I imagine as the geek or goth or pagan — the outcast — and they might have some moves and stories about learning the secrets.

I’m not sure, though. What do you all think?

I’m trying to find a place to play Monsterhearts play-by-post, since that fits better into my life, but I don’t even really know where to start. Anyone know if there’s a clearinghouse for such games?

I’m interested in trying to adapt ‘Persuade an NPC’ to also include ‘Persuade a PC’ — probably modeling after vanilla AW’s Seduce/Manipulate move, which gives the following choices (7-9, choose 1; 10+, both.)

• if they do it, they mark experience [the carrot]

• if they refuse, it’s acting under fire [the stick]

Acting Under Fire — the stick — maps just fine to Keep Your Cool, but Urban Shadows does experience differently (and better), so a new carrot is needed. Anyone have any thoughts?

What’s Magpie’s attitude about hacks?

What’s Magpie’s attitude about hacks? AW officially has no license, but Vincent is excited about people hacking the game. DW is CC — but I’ve not found, at least, some semi-official position about Urban Shadows.

I ask because I’m thinking of adapting the game into some sort of MUX/MUSH, which would probably involve some hacks to playbooks and moves to work right in a place where there are co-MCs or just self-directed play.
