Who has a Playbook idea that they’re gnawing on (or being gnawed by)? I’m still mulling over the Bridge, a shaman type Weird Playbook. I’ve also started thinking of a Sharp one, the Mentalist. They memorize things and read people eerie well.
What else is simmering out there?
I’ve more than once toyed with the idea of a playbook that uses that “It’s not just murder, it’s an art” from the Advanced Fuckery chapter. That move really does deserve a home.
I would love to see a Savvyhead minisupplement based on Thomas Lawrence’s autistic spectrum character from a shortlived IRC game. The Mentalist idea reminded me of it, in a completely opposite sort of way.
I still have two more playbooks I want to make.
An explorer, who comes with knowledge of the landscape, kind of how the quarantine comes with knowledge of the apocalypse. I stole the solace’s move “alive in the world” from my draft of this playbook, I’ll have to replace it with something cool.
An “exterminator,” who comes with rules for creating the awful vermin and monsters who share Apocalypse World with us. I put exterminator in quotes because it’s a protection racket.
This morning I just started thinking about a playbook centered around the idea of bartering. It’s an important and interesting part of the setting that could use some exploration.
Also, I had a bunch of players who were totally fascinated with trade, that always sort of fell flat in game, so I’d like to play with making that a bit more interesting.
Nice.
I’ve been thinking recently about finishing off the playbook I was working on with Elizabeth and others while Liam was doing the Dog Eat Dog kickstarter: The Conquistador. There where a few things I really liked, adding new options to the lists for a few moves, sex moves that gave you new improvement options or interfered with others options. Eventually I’ll do the last 20% to get it finished.
I totally want a spaceman playbook, The Volunteer.
You’ve been watching them squirm, lo these last fifty years. From your space station, you have seen the world crumble. It’s not just you, you were just one of the few who volunteered to stay behind and keep tabs while the rest of humanity’s elite awayed to the New World. You and your family and the other families. Now your station is past it’s best by date and the systems are failing. You had to make the descent to see if it was safe for the others. If only you could find a radio so you could tell them what it’s like down here… How bad it really is.
Marshall Miller There was a spaceman mini supplement for the Quarantine that sounds very much like what you want.
I don’t remember what it was called, but I think I’ve got a copy on my home computer if you’re interested.
The Fallen.
That’s it! Thanks Matt!
Any time.
Lol, probably something I printed out a long time ago, the gist of which was still sitting around in the back of my head. How embarrassing.
I was thinking about a Juggernaut like playbook but -Mech +Monster.
Monsters like a Dinosaur, a Hulk, a Giant Warthog, some mutated beasty, an ogre…
It would probarbly be a Hot or Cool Playbook and the monster would have impulses and instincts it follows. It would be controlled in “battle” with hold.
For a while, I was working on a shaman/summoner playbook for a character who controlled corrupted swarms of terraforming nanites. Some moves involved making changes to the maps.
Might be a good playbook supplement for the Hocus, actually.
Could still maybe make an interesting Savyhead SubPlaybook
Jonathan Walton that sounds like a KICK ASS playbook.
I had considered running AW with a nanotech based apocalypse too…
“DWeird” is working on an “Abacus” playbook, which is all about brokering deals and being the middleman, at barf forth apocalyptica.
Neat. I haven’t heard from Daumantas (DWeird) in ages.
Where did you hear about this “Abacus”?
The Solace has me thinking about Roland Deschane and the Fall of Gilead and the Court of the Crimson King.
I’ve also been thinking of stealing things from Under a Serpent Sun, including a Red Queen Playbook. I’m thinking of someone focused on birthing/delivering into of the Maelstrom (which they perceive as a swarm) into the world.
Dylan Boates, you can find the Abacus in progress here: http://apocalypse-world.com/forums/index.php?topic=5982.0
