  1. The venom of mutant sting rays was a hardhold feature in the game I ran via G+. The moves I had come up with for the refined venom are below. A single does is called a sting and the Pebbleskin is the place in the hardhold where the experts at delivering stings work.

    When you take the Venom roll+tolerance. On a 10+ pick one for every 2 full stings. On a 7-9 pick one for every sting. On a miss the MC will pick one for every sting.

    Injury is ecstasy —you don’t make the harm move when injured, instead roll+harm and treat it like the individual injuring you is attempting to seduce you. When the effects end, you roll the normal harm move.

    Contact is agony —delicate touches delivered the right away provoke a response like being injured, except you tend to lose grip on more conceptual things and worse than it seems injury is nerve damage; another PC can use Hot to provoke this, if NPCs are doing this assume an untrained person just going at it is +0, someone who has an idea of what’s going on is +1, and a worker at the Pebbleskin is +2.

    Then is now —your sense of time is warped, roll +weird to read situations.

    Senses are scrambled —rolling anything but +harm, +hot, or +weird takes a -1. You can take this multiple times in a sting session.

    It doesn’t hurt but it eventually kills —suffer 1 harm. You can take this multiple times in a sting session. This harm does trigger injury is ecstasy if it was taken as well.

    You can get used to anything —+1 Tolerance. You can take this multiple times in a sting session.

    When you’ve been stung before, but haven’t gotten any sting in a while (say a week or so) roll+tolerance. On a 10+ the MC picks three below. On a 7-9 the MC picks one below. On a miss you’re cool for now and if you have no Tolerance don’t make this move again until after you’ve taken more sting.

    Need it bad —you are acting under fire until you get stung again

    Flashbacks —you suffer one of the venom effects until you get stung; building Tolerance isn’t on the table

    Cleaning up —you get -1 Tolerance

    Accumulated toxicity —make the harm move with Tolerance instead of harm

    Pebbleskin —you get -1Hot, which can be treated like treating 2-harm

  2. That’s some cool design space for drugs, and immediately implies a few other drugs (rage patches and creepy patches for Hard and Weird respectively—it seems to me that Cool and Sharp being outside of the purview of drugs like that makes sense).

    Another carrot / stick drug:

    When you’re given the Liquid Bridle you mark experience for going along with any idea presented to you and are acting under fire when you fail to go along.

    Not a fun drug to take yourself, but something you can worry about some crazy ass grotesque having on hand.
