Though on occasion, this can be because the game itself is unwittingly telling you to play another game than the one that it actually is.
Colter Hanna sometimes it happens, I’d guess. Do you have any examples of such games?
I could fill a personal library with examples.
I’d say the recent editions of D&D are decent example of games that are not particularly self-aware, but can be quite fun once you figure out what they actually are.
Every game can be fun, if you know what your getting into… the problem is most games are not designed by people who know what they are getting into! X-D
