Heya folks, I need a little guidance on the “Mystery Letter”.

Heya folks, I need a little guidance on the “Mystery Letter”. I’ve got one player returning after missing 2 sessions and her Snoop is rejoining us in the 2nd half of a mystery where the group should be killing (or being killed by) the monsters.

  1. I’d start by thinking about (a) what the Snoop has been up to off-screen and (b) what the Snoop has been wanting to achieve in the last few sessions of the game.

Mystery Letters are a great opportunity to advance the hunter’s plans (but at a cost!) and create a vivid off-screen life for the hunter (but also create some problems for them).

  2. To build on what Steve Hickey said, I think I would give them a choice of two or three stories to have been chasing, then a good and bad thing based on each of those.

The snoop also is a good one to use as a hook for the next mystery in the clues they get while they were away. (Edited to remove the bit that was irrelevant when I checked the situation in-game again).
