I was wondering how people handle ‘kick some ass’ when the hunter uses a sniper rifle. Do you ignore harming the hunter?

Uhm… if the target has no idea of the sniper you don’t roll kick some ass, you just deal harm.
If the target has no means of retaliating (not sniping a Medusa or similar) then it’s not so much Kick Some Ass; it’s more “apply damage as narrative dictates”
That’s basically how i handled it, I really should do a full reread of the book now I’ve ran a few sessions.
I guess there may also be times when it would be an Act Under Pressure roll, particularly if trying to avoid giving away a position, avoid hitting nearby bystanders…
Yeah. If there’s no chance of the target dealing harm back to the Hunter, there’s no Kick Some Ass move triggered. As others have said, just let the Hunter deal their damage.
I’m OK with this, because I’ve noticed that Kick Some Ass is inherently more dangerous than other fighting moves for some AW hacks. In MotW, if the Hunter triggers Kick Some Ass they are going to take damage no matter what. So if the Hunters can get themselves in a position where they can harm their foes without triggering the Kick Some Ass move, I say reward their foresight/planning/dumb luck. 😉
There’s a page in the book that discusses this, I don’t know it off the top of my head. The specific reference is shooting a zombie vs. going toe-to-toe with it.
