Hey guys! I’m back with more stuff on my game.
I’ve been here before, asking about ideas for a mechanic to High and ow Profile moves, in order to make the players feel the High Profile.
So I came up with this system, as you see in the image below (or above), when I use two different rolls for any move in the game, using adjectives to explain the result in the move text. So, I want the community’s opinion about:
1 – The mechanic you can see in the post.
2 – The adjectives.
3 – The design of the image (as it’s a draft of the way I want to design the book)
Thank you, guys, for your time!
What exactly is the difference between low and high profile?
“High profile is like stepping on gas “, and it makes you more detectable, somehow
Without knowing the rest of the rules that go along with this profile mechanic it’s difficult to comment on it. For example, the probabilities in the high profile column seem slightly better than the low profile column, but then it sounds like there’s higher risk, and low profile sounds “safer” but more difficult to pull off meaningful success. Does that sound like what you’re going for?
not really getting, why amazing is so far from total.
I.. don’t get the purpose of the mechanic, to be honest. Does it fill a specific need? To me it appears to be a mechanic that was introduced because you can.
As for the image itself, it’s fine. The text will probably require a bit of proof-reading, and maybe you should call the dice by their name at one point 🙂
You’ve lost me…
Patrick Henry Downs Yeah, thats just it.
Claudio Freda That game is my inspiration for this mechanic
Manuel Warum In this setting, even reallity itself is up to get you. You act high profile, you’re awsome, but easyer to notice. In Low Profile, you keep everything down, but can’t be as awsome.
For the text, I know i need proof reading. Also, I’m not a native english speaker.
Richard Extall didn’t get your meaning…
Ганс Андроид Because it’s really amazing. I mean, more amazing than a full sucess. And it has it’s own couterparts, for example, when a Low Profile move get amazing, you can be detected (depending on the move).
I can’t see what your trying to achieve and why you are trying to achieve it.
Guilherme Korn in normal AW amazing is 12+, and it IS really amazing.
Richard Extall What I’m trying to achive is some difference between High and Low profile, in the core mechanics, in order to my players feel it. And I’m doing this because it’s a huge deal in the setting: you need to be low profile, to be alive. But there are certain things that force you to be high profile, such as “attack moves”, or specific playbook moves.
Ганс Андроид I know. Thats why i used the sama concept in the high profile curve. But, for me, It’s more difficult to be amazing when you’re keeping your profile down.
