Ok everyone, here’s the new outline with all kinds of edits in place! Still needs examples and proofing. Our editor, Jonathan, has yet to go over the actual moves in detail as well so there’ll probably be some changes there too. Despite the lack of examples, I think it should be clear and strong enough to stand on its own (as any text should) with examples being there to cement understanding.

We’re going to get some proofing in and I’ll update it with any of those errors getting fixed. More changes to moves specifically and an extended play example to come at the end to tie everything together. Check it out!

change log: tweaks to a ton of moves, both Basic and in Origins and Drive books. overhauled structure and outline, about 20 extra pages for explanations and supplemental understanding in pretty much all sections. (Basically: SO MANY THINGS)

Also, numbers don’t matter, just put it at 1 instead 0.1 so people didn’t get confused between the alpha and the beta. There will be updates here too and I’ll probably go 1.1, 1.2, etc.

  1. Being picky. but can a a better word be found for argument in Negotiate. “When you try to reach an agreement or compromise with another through argument, state  your position in the argument and what is at stake if you win. I” It’s not always an argument, sometimes it is talking people off a ledge or talking the bad guy to come out and surrender ….. neither are arguments.

  2. Right, but in those cases you wouldn’t trigger Negotiate. If the other party has no stake and is not engaging you, it’s not Negotiate. I think a better word can be found though, I agree! Let my brain is now jelly but after it reconstitutes itself I will. Do you mean other Bond moves as in down with the Special Moves? The thing I was going with for Special Moves is that they are used mostly during downtime only, and so far less. Aide and Interfere belongs with the other Basic Moves up top I think, if that makes sense. Unless you mean put up with Serve and Protect since they have could possibly have a similar thing going on?

  3. To negotiate means to work or talk with others in order to reach an agreement. It implies that two parties are involved and are engaged – that’s why I chose to call the move Negotiate and not “Argue.” I wanted it to be clear that two parties are involved and that a conclusion is being reached (and it can still be thought of as an argument). Whereas simply saying that it is an argument does not necessarily carry the connotations of an agreement being made in the end.

  4. Exchange? Compromise? Negotiation?

If the move is called negotiate, there doesn’t need to be any reason to stray too far from the root word.

  5. My Adrian Thoen was more on the word argument within the Negotiate text, where I think Kyle Simons even agreed that a better word can fit the theme of the move.
