And here’s the first playbook for The War.
Honor? Pageantry? The Glory of the Crown? Save it for the nobles, son. A soldier’s life is monotony and drill and misery, interrupted by moments of sheer, bloody terror. And in the thick of it, you don’t push through for King and Country. You do it for the unlikely lads at your side.
That is why we fight, boy. Not for the glory. Not for the thrill. But for each other.
More coming soon.
I’m currently watching TURN on AMC. This text hits right. What era are you looking at?
There is a lot of interesting stuff going on here. Will follow.
Meguey Baker less of an era and more of a feel. The War of the Ring meets Band of Brothers, I think.
I’ll have to check out this TURN you speak of…
The War? 😉
The War Episode 1
(Pitched as LotR + Ken Burns’ Civil War documentary.)
Seriously though, seems good.
Jeremy Strandberg – TURN is American Rev War, the beginnings of intelligence networks.
Sounds interesting…both The War and Turn.
are there basic moves? or do you just wing it based on the stats?
Patrick Henry Downs, you mean these basic moves?

uuuhhh
Tim Franzke ???
Looks good! I see the Soldier has spells available — is that true of all characters?
Oh, and how developed is the setting? Is it defined and detailed? Room for player input?
Andrew Scott All the PCs are members of the Order of the Lodge, which sends them on various special-forces type missions during the War. Every “marked” member of the Lodge can cast at least two spells: the Road Home (which teleports them back to the nearest Lodge house) and Open the Way (which opens a very risky portal from a Lodge house to the PC). So, yes, everyone gets some spells. Other playbooks (the Wizard, the Templar, etc.) will get a lot more.
As for the setting, it’s very wide open. I’m envisioning of series of world maps that the group would pick from, but no actual background information on anything on the map. Play to find out.
There will always be a few elements, notably an expansive and horrible Enemy, a world at War, and the Lodge. But what exactly those elements look like (and the rest of the world) is something that gets defined in play.
That sounds really fun!
