Could folks who have played talk about the Session Intro move and how it has worked in their games?
Spotlighting a faction is just like highlighting a stat in AW?
Thanks!

That’s exactly right. The player marks the faction and then rolls+Faction. This provides a hard move, interesting rumour or debt. If I missed anything, I hope others come to clarify.
You definitely get to mark that Faction toward your advancement track! Then you roll that Faction and fiction gets created. All in theory of course. 😀
The thought behind this move is to give your MC things to springboard off of. We’re working on making it as elegant and supportive as possible so any playtest reports we gain will be invaluable.
The custom Session Intro move that Mark Diaz Truman used in the Indie+ demo this past Saturday was pretty sweet!
Mark, could you post it here, or is that bad form?
Yup! This is what I used:
Session Intro
At the beginning of every session, choose the player of the character you trust the least to spotlight a Faction for your character (that isn’t already marked) and mark that faction. Advance, if appropriate, then choose 1:
– Learn a rumor about another PC
– Hear about an opportunity involving another PC
– Trade Debts with an NPC from that Faction
– Get an unexpected gift with strings attached
We’re still working on this element of the game. I think it’s not working yet as we intended, so we’re going to keep plugging away at it.
