Been doing some major revisions to my ongoing modern science horror AW hack, and looking if someone has gone down the road I am before so I can skip some “re-inventing the wheel” issues.
Are there hacks out there that use a two (or more) parallel playbook approach succesfully. For me, it would be something along the line of character background and the way they interact with the supernatural; but a good analogy would be something like a race/class division in a fantasy game. Any hacks out there that have this sort of a divide (that I could check out) and if there are, what are your experiences with them (so I can learn)?
Danger Patrol isn’t a ptbA hack, but it’s still worth looking at for inspiration along these lines. (Plus it’s just awesome in its own right.)
Sweet, will check it out (since I have heard good things about it in other contexts as well) 🙂
Uncharted Worlds has a roll your own style play book. You pick two career types and a home world to get your ‘class’ moves. It’s a bit more complex, but it seems to work well.
The upcoming Worlds in Peril. You have an origin playbook and a drive playbook. I haven’t played the system yet, so I can’t really say how it works in play.
Here’s their kickstarter page so you can see their character sheet and stuff: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/63676387/worlds-in-peril
Both of these sound like good sources for me (and had forgooten about WiP, even if I backed it, stupid me). Anyone have actual play experience with either?
I’m trying something similar with the War. You choose a playbook (soldier, adept, templar, etc.) and an insert to represent your origins (the frontier, the travellers, wild elves, etc.).
I’ve got a couple examples posted here. Check out the playbooks (Soldier, Adept) and the Inserts document.
