Who’s watching Night of Champions tomorrow? For such a terrible build, it’s a pretty great card, actually.

Looks like the Reigns/Rollins match is off, though. Apparently Reigns got emergency hernia surgery and is going to be out for a couple months.

Do I only feel like it’s been a rough year for injuries because I’m paying more attention these days, or has been a remarkably injurious year already?

  1. I think WWE pays more attention to injures now.  With all the info about concussions, I think they’re going out of their way to show they’re giving time off to guys who are hurt.

And of course I’ll be watching.  It’s only $9.99, after all.

Lesnar v Cena – I’m just not feeling this.  Maybe this would have been good at Survivor Series, but this feels too soon.

Jericho v Orton – Should be entertaining, but where is this going?

Ziggler v Miz – Honestly the one I’m probably looking forward to the most.

Usos v *dust – This should be good, but shows they need more depth in tag teams.  We just keep getting the same guys.  I’d like to see this steal the show, just to get better tag stuff in the future.

Henry v Rusev – Rusev has been very impressive as a “rookie”.  Should be good with Henry, but I’ll be very disappointed if there’s no property damage (chairs, announcers’ tables, etc.).

Sheamus v Cesaro – Both guys being on the wrong side of the Face/Heel coin isn’t going to help.

Paige v Nikki Bella v AJ Lee – One of these things is not like the others… I usually don’t like triple threats and the odds of this ending up with us seeing more of Nikki Bella as champion really isn’t exciting.

  2. It seems like they have a bunch of big talent that is out with injuries. That, and also there isn’t an all round push so when the guys they have been pushing get injured, it is a lot more striking because of the void that they leave.

On a related note, I guess they had the Reigns-Rollins match on RAW just in case of the surgery ?

  3. That’s a good point, about the feeling of void – they have so many great wrestlers on the roster, how have they managed to get into a situation where one guy leaving makes it feel empty?

I’m pulling for a Sheamus/Cesaro surprise barnburner, and would say the chances of an Ambrose return has gone from “very likely” to “GET HIM HERE STAT”.

  4. I don’t really follow the weekly shows, so I cannot comment on the story build, one way or other.  As I have WWE Network, I’ll be watching, cuz, you know, why not?

From the list of matches, I’m saddened at the lack of Wyatt Family, what’s up with that?  Otherwise, the matches mostly look good – still don’t care one way or the other about the Brock/Cena match, as I didn’t really care about it at SummerSlam.  And I could do without Nikki Bella in the Divas’ match, but oh well.

  5. I would love to see Brock retain, if for nothing else than because I love the idea of an absent champion.

Yah, Wyatt’s are stuck in some kind of purgatory between the mid and upper card, it sucks.

Man, missing the weekly shows really isn’t hurting you on this one. The builds have varied from nothing to atrociously bad.

  6. I have zero investment in either Cena or Brock; I liked them both when they started, but Cena has become the Hogan of today (too homogenized, too dumbed down), and Brock… I’m not into the part timer as a champion, I guess.  Personally, I’d rather see younger guys get the belt.

Shame about the Wyatts; they were the single most exciting thing about WWE for me in years.

I just haven’t been able to watch the weekly shows (except for NXT, mind you, which I consider to be the far superior product to the regular WWE programming) on any sort of regular basis for this year.  I try to catch the RAW after the PPV, because those are usually decent with the fallout from the night before.  But beyond that, can’t be arsed.

  7. Never mind all that Usos vs Dust stuff! I want to see Adam Rose and the Bunny tag teaming!  (Anyone else think its Sami Zayn under the suit!?!)

  8. Honestly, really liked this show! The intercontinental defense was the only match that didn’t do it for me. And Rusev/Henry wasn’t spectacular, but pretty much what I expected. Overall, tho, engaging matches!

Now just to bring some of that into RAW.

  9. Lesnar/Cena bored me. Same as most heavyweight boxing. It’s just mostly slow and plodding with lots of heavy hits. And I’m really tired of Cena disrupting fun swerves. I’d have loved to see what they did with Rollins as Heavyweight Champion.

  10. I loved the whole thing. I’m glad to see the crowd getting behind a Divas match. I would have preferred a definitive Lesnar win, and then have Lesnar get up and destroy Rollins, but I’m the minority Super Lesnar Mark so I’ll take what we got!

  11. Still haven’t finished, but man did I hate the ending to that divas match (too much of a Paige mark, I admit).

But stop swapping the title back and forth every month.

Also having AJ win by making Nikki tap out would help to continue the story between AJ and Paige, without the former champ looking weak.

People also need to stop chanting for AJ’s husband during her matches.

And Jericho…why you go to top rope? This is not one of your things (in WWE at least). I really can’t stand the obvious telegraphed finishes.

  12. The Brock Cena match also left me wanting. It would have been cool to see Rollins cash in, only for Brock to monster shrug off all that Cena did to him.

Sort of like how Cena monster shrugged of the briefcase to the face.

I know I have to respect how reliable Cena is, but man we need other Main Event Hero’s to root for. It’s just a shame about all the injuries.

Or, you know, their seemingly steadfast refusal to push certain people as Main Event contenders…
