Which system/hack do you recommend if I was wanting to run something with a lot of modern conspiracy plots/creeping horror/violence? I was contemplating using tremulus, have had mixed feelings about it in the past, and wanted to see what the community’s thoughts were.

  1. Black Stars Rise. You may want to mix in some things from the Regiment potentially, depending on how much violence, but Black Stars Rise is a good start for normal individuals drawn into what you’re talking about.

If you want those already a bit exposed, you could draw up new BSR Playbooks and situations that match that. But the basic structure of BSR is perfect for what you’re after.

  2. Jordan Raymond   I have Urban Shadows, actually just kicked off a small campaign last night. For this conspiracy idea though, I’d prefer if there was a minimal amount of supernatural powers on the end of the PCs. So US isn’t really a good fit.

Tim Groth  I was thinking about BSR. I’ve run it once before it one of the earlier drafts. May need to pick it up and read it over again. That may be the one I need.

  3. After a preliminary re-read of Black Stars Rise this will be what I’m going with. Having this different scenario in mind as I read helped some of pieces pop out a little more for me now. Just wondering if anyone else has been playing BSR? And if you have, have you written any set ups beyond the base three the system has so far?
