I was just asked about the intro question ‘what does your character desperately need’ by a player in my new campaign and was wondering how you would clarify a good answer to the question.
Is a good nights sleep a compelling answer for a Oracle suffering terrible nightmares?
Totally
Absolutely.
Do you think the answer should be something that will cause them imminent danger/problems of not got/solved/…etc? Otherwise it’s not a desperate need.
Do players find the intro questions and their answers becomes a major part of their characters?
Just so it’s clear I really love the intro question but wanted to see if other players and you awesome creators had specific takes and advice on them.
On a complete side note I got to kill my immortal player in the first 30minutes of our campaign, I love me some poor player rolls.
It is a great answer, tells us a lot about the character. The idea is to give them something to strive for, to motivate them in the story.
