Fantastic! This is someone who really plays in the string economy.
I’d change Ice Bound heart so it’s -1 instead of -2, because of the small probability range, but everything else here is intriguing.
Still, Most Improved Skin draft 2014 goes to you :).
I had -1 at first but the penalty is to the frozens best stats so I thought -1 might be too easy to ignore
Never forget other people using Strings and Conditions :). If you have 2+ strings on the Frozen, it’s worth using one so they fuck up.
I think that some of these move need to be rewritten so that they’re fiction first. Like Frigid Pursuit for example. I would write this so it’s something like the following:
“
When you wish to be left alone and create frosty bridges and erupting icicles to make it dangerous to follow you, run away with Dark. In addition to the normal results, on a 7-9 you inflict 1 Harm on everyone around you when you leave, and on a 10+ you inflict 1 Harm only on those people pursuing you.
“
Work the fiction into the move’s trigger. The same goes for Icy Blast.
So, I’ll say that I think I know what you are advising here Christopher Stone-Bush , but I can’t say that your particular example is the way I would go to change it. It seems far too specific and limiting in its phrasing. The wording is meant to be a little bit vague so that each player can define how their powers look and behave. I reread Frigid Pursuit and I will be tweaking the writing of that Move a little bit (I need to do an updated version anyways, because the “how to play a Frozen” block hasn’t been rewritten with the new Moves), but I honestly don’t see a problem with Icy Blast as it is. Perhaps you could be a little more specific about what you find problematic in its wording?
On second look Icy Blast does start with fiction. I personally would make the move a “When you…” trigger.
Alright, I’ve rewritten the “how to play” section of The Frozen, switched Ice-Bound Heart to -1 to all Cold and Dark rolls against someone who has 2 or more Strings on you, and tweaked some of the fiction of the Moves. Version 1.3 is just about ready to post. Does anyone have any final suggestions? Questions? Concerns? Requests? before I post version 1.3?
Ooh, I also tweaked the Sex Move so that you give the other person 3 Strings on you, minus 1 for each time you have slept together before (minimum of 1).
