This is a move of the Tribal playbook that I am not really happy with, especially because it makes you roll twice for a single move. How would you change it?

Bushwack: Prepare before going aggro or seizing by force, which could mean anything from hiding a weapon behind your back to setting snares or even just waiting until nightfall. Right before you make your move, roll +Sharp. On a 10+

pick 3, and on a 7-9 pick 1:

• The enemy is vulnerable. You inflict either +1 or AP harm.

• The enemy is disorganized. They inflict -1harm.

• Your position is secure, and provides you with cover worth 1-armor. •

The enemy is cut off, and may not retreat the same way they came.

  1. I’ve only had a player using the Tribal playbook once and he had bushwack, it’s a set-up move for a go aggro or seize by force move, which means the player has the potential of missing one or both moves for a slightly better combat opener than normal.

Just reading the move I had a problem with it, but in actual play it worked pretty well and the player was reluctant to use it for every situation. IIRC, he only used it twice before retiring the character.

It’s like an AW version of a Thief’s sneak attack. My advice: try playing with it before you condemn it.
