Freelance Wrestling, west side kinda? It’s at the Abbey Pub near Elston and Irving Park.
Well worth the admission price, for the record.
My favorite part of local indie wrestling is seeing the guys I’ve never heard of and seeing the difference that charisma makes. Even in the upper-tier indies (Chikara, Ring of Honor, PWG, etc) most of the wrestlers are at least pretty good and have been working a while. An an event like this you have wildly varying levels of experience and skill and I feel like I can see when someone has, y’know, “it” and when someone knows how to bump and hit moves and stuff but that’s about all.
