I just finished reading this over the weekend and I think it is excellent and looks like a lot of fun to run.
My main comment is about the lack of a blank set of character sheets (or a single sample one) in the rule book.
My printer died the other week so I was doing it without printed character sheets and I found following the marks/advancement stuff a little confusing. I know i could have looked at the pdf or something but I found that it was something missed and i felt that i needed to be in the rule book.
I guess my only other request would be a few more pages of example gm moves, events and plot ideas.
I think everything else flowed really well and this really fired my imagination.
(Ive been thinking of running a series of rpg stories hopping round ww2 and books like this get my creative juices flowing. Great work!)
Finally and most importantly…. has anyone found a subtitles file for the 1981 russian movie mentioned in the bibliography? Just asking… nooooo reason…… 😉

One thing I’d have loved is some real example for Natures and the like, like “Hawk” followed by a real woman who was a Hawk.
(In the rules I’m missing more support for the day parts, but I still have to read the handouts, so maybe what’s there is enough.)
nod that was feeling reading the rules… that i was missing some extra piece of information to cement it.
Like being able to flip to an example set of marks when im reading the rules about that them. I feel that printing off the handouts is a required for understanding the rules. (Ie some part of the handout should be in the book)
This sounds needlessly harsh because i think the rule book is really well written and layed out. Its just a comment, not a big complaint.
I had a similar experience. To me, reading the handouts was fundamental to the understanding of the game.
So, be warned: read also the handouts before playing! Your work will be easier! 😉
I’m reading now the handouts, so maybe what’s missing is there; I’m not sure there are example from real history though: it’s not just being able to have an example of Mark or whatsoever, it’s knowing that bit, that example, really happened to someone, to see the real roots of the game.
