Let’s say that a character has naturally evolved toward a gimmick change before this was actually possible (he needs a couple of advances yet). This happened because he was a gatekeeper and quickly revolted against his superior (an other wrestler) and the feud was concluded with a total squash of the latter.
Also, assigning him to someone else makes no sense.
Since the PBTAs rules (or the ones of AW itself, at least) are both prescriptive and descriptive, I think they should describe the wrestler not being a gatekeeper anymore, so the playbook should change.
What do you think?
All of the GateKeeper moves could still apply despite them now being at odds. The feud concluding provides an advance.
Overall, weird. Why choose the gatekeeper playbook and then why blow off the feud so quickly? Was there Kayfabe breaking involved?
I say give it to him, but at a cost. Someone he admires REALLY, REALLY liked his old gimmick.
Justin Hunt He made the character upon that, actually. He was like “I’ll do the guy who’s not happy about his boss”, which made sense.
There’s no hard mechanical reason not to, so whatever seems right at your table is the OFFICIAL ANSWER.
