Does anyone have any thoughts on a move for when the promotion gains popularity? It seems like it’s mostly there to reset Audience, but I feel like it could do more things for the promotion like:
*new match types
*new NPWs
*retiring NPWs
*new wrestler merch
*new entrance themes
What do you think, y’all?
When Nathan Paoletta has run games for us he has used the size of the audience to gauge the size of the venue we would perform in. It seems to me it also might affect the level of fame a guest star might have, from a local to global scale.
I’ll tell you what not to do; award an advance. I did this in HEW S1 and it got to be a bit unbalancing.
You could try making a playbook for the promotion, and give that an advance. Could be a fun hack.
I use it to drive the fictional positioning of the promotion (as Jason notes), but creating a custom promotion Move that grows out of the events of play would be rad too.
These suggests sound great, and are providing terrific inspiration for the backdrop HEW Season 2 starting in a couple weeks…
Hmmm. A promotion book? That’d be fascinating. They’ve done it well in Blades in the Dark…but in that game, it represents the PC’s organization. Not sure if it’d work for people who legit do and don’t like the company, or like it and get screwed, or get promoted despite hating it!
What stats would a promotion have? Loyalty (to staff), Budget, Shamelessness, Legitimacy?
