Sneak Preview of some playtest Gimmicks for Origins:

(General)

*The Indie Darling

*The Hoss

(Puroresu)

* The Ace

* The Shoot Fighter

(Lucha Libre)

* The Luchadore, with specific Technico and Rudo rules that replace Babyface/Heel

* The Crossover (probably a better word that I’m having trouble coming up with, basically a character that crosses over from movies/comic books/pop culture, a la El Santo, Blue Demon, Mystico, etc)

(I expect to actually only finish 4 of these before I leave, unfortunately)

  1. I need to watch more Joshi, but I’m not sure that there’s much that meaningfully differentiate’s them other than being women? Educate me if I’m wrong!

  2. I’m running games at Games on Demand! We have a room on the upper breezeway heading towards the food court area. Also, Justin Hunt is running scheduled games but i had trouble finding them in the matrix. Galaxy Something Wrestling?

  3. Ah ha. I saw the Galaxy Wrestling events, but I think they’re Fri/Sat/Sun. (Also, it wasn’t clear that it was a WWW event, based on the online description.)

    I’ll be sure to stop up to Games on Demand.

  4. If you want a nice little physical representation for the middle of your table, look up a board game called Luchadore!

    It has a buildable wrestling ring…

  5. i just enjoyed reading the joshi playbook on the fan community, but yea, it’s ‘so’ gender specific, it seems odd.  Seems very much about being held back in certain promotions.

  6. Yup, in fitting with the Origins space theme, I’m running 3 sessions of: Intergalactic Wrestling Federation presents: Space Brawl!

    I’ve never submitted events before so I probably did a crumby job of the write up.

  7. I think the only problem is that the name “World Wide Wrestling” doesn’t show up on the spreadsheet, so searching for it turned up bupkis. Whether that’s your fault or Origins fault, I have no idea!

    I mean, the real problem is that I have to download a spreadsheet and comb through it for events, but that’s not your problem.

  8. You can download the spreadsheet…or when you register online, you can search that dynamically.  That’s what I was looking at.  I’m guessing it was just a matter of what text was in what fields. The online registration system is…really smooth in some ways, but in other ways it seems like it was thrown together by amateurs.

  9. I love going to Origins but because of my self-imposed Games On Demand bubble everything about the official registration system gets a big shruggy emoticon from me.

  10. Gimmicks actually happening:

    The Indie Darling. It’s kind of all over the place but that’s also kinda the point?

    The Ace. If you like the Veteran but want more control over your own booking, you’ll love the Ace!

    The Luchadore. If you like tag teams, you’ll love the Luchadore!
