I am planning to run Worlds in Peril at Games on Demand at Gencon.
Any suggestions? Should I bring full pregens? Partial pregens? or have players make characters on the spot?
Going to run it for the first time this Sunday.

I was thinking about doing the powers and maybe the bonds in advance and letting the players pick their motivation and origin books so they have a bit of customization
Yeah, I’ve tried two different ways for pick-up games and they both worked ok. The first time I just used complete pre-gens, I filled in all the powers, bonds, wrote in the description for the bonds even. It worked fine, especially because I only had 2 hours to get a game in, and I’ve done it this way a few times. The second way I had left the powers and origins open.
Powers can also be time consuming depending on the player, but can be facilitated and you can prompt them. If everything else is done it allows them to focus on the cool stuff, and players usually dig the freedom of how powers work so it showcases that. I’ve even done it more recently where I used the example pre-gens with art, but took away the powers and asked them what kind of powers these hero might have, looking at the art piece. After what kinds of powers they have done, what is easy, difficult, borderline, possible (the furthest they’ve ever pushed their powers), and I often just tell them to not worry about impossible for a con scenario.
If you want to do Origin books I found that telling the players to listen as I read out the name and description of an Origin book was a good way to do it. Once they heard one they liked, they found their origin on the table and placed it next to their sheet (I printed out the origin play aides and cut them up when necessary so there was only one per piece of paper, had 2 copies of each one in case multiple people wanted the same one). That way they all they have to do is listen and choose and they’ve got the extra moves in front of them, don’t need to write anything extra down for it.
