Advanced Let It Out: this is the only move that’s really giving me trouble. How have you all handled it in your games? Is the new manifestation only good for further let it out? Should there be a new custom move made every time?

I’ve basically been giving it to our Spectre that it’s a new application or bonus, like a +1 to frighten mortals with a vision of terror.

  1. I try to give the players something concrete if they hit this (it’s still pretty rare). If there’s a move available, like Sun and Moon for The Wolf or a spell for The Wizard, I just tell them to mark it as if they had earned the advancement. Sometimes I’ll expand a move too: “Now your teleportation spell can move additional people with you at no additional cost.”

I think it’s also fine to write a new move: “Startling Visage: When you frighten mortals with a vision of terror, take +1 ongoing to _Mislead, Distract, or Trick.”

  2. It comes up more than I expected (about 2x a session), since it’s better than a 1 in 4 chance on a Specter with a 3 Spirit.

The new manifestation not hard-linked to Let It Out?

  3. Most recent example we had was the Spectre hitting an advanced Let it Out and ended up with the Wizard’s teleport spell/power once per scene. It was very appropriate and pretty awesome!

  4. In our game, the Oracle (played by  Jennifer Kitzman) got these two moves from choosing this option….

A new option for Let it Out:  For the rest of the scene you may mark corruption to prevent harm to yourself or an ally.  When the scene finishes you must Keep Your Cool to do anything but collapse in exhaustion.

    A new move:

Ghost Yank:  You can mark corruption to pull a ghost through time/space to your location.  A PC can try to “keep their cool” to prevent it if they want. (I think our Spectre Richard Williams got yanked just once)
