  1. Tony Ferron Genius!

It will need playtesting to shake out any game breakers and get the settings right (e.g. attribute levels, move options, etc.), and a couple of the moves need tweaking but otherwise it looks really good.

Suggest you post this over on the Story Games community: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/105298743270221910970

  2. I’m wondering about the 6- results.  It mentions you gain nothing, or the worse option, but it didn’t look like many moves had a worse option listed?

  3. So, day two of We Cannot Understand!

Thank you Michael D! I’ve improved it, it only took a couple of minutes to see the major flaws. I did make it under severe lack of sleep, which I think gives it it’s charm. Hah… Haa…

Anyway! I’ll post it over at those places, good ideas old chap.

Rob Deobald, glad you like the look of it. I knew it was missing those, I’ve altered the moves that needed 6- options, I’m confident they’re not just “bad”, but bring even more fun to the game.

I’d like to thank everyone for commenting.

  4. Couple of tips:

    1. Positive options are easier to work with than negative options in moves.

    E.g. Hide

    On a 7-9, choose 1.

     – You have to Grasp, right now.

     – You lose 1 Life.

    On a 6-, both apply.

    is much clearer than:

    Hide

    On a 7-9, choose 1.

     – You don’t have to Grasp, right now.

     – You don’t lose 1 Life.

    On a 6-, choose both.

    2. Options that avoid something bad really only work when the thing they’re avoiding is written into the core move.  Otherwise you have an essential part of the move squirreled away in an option the player may not pick.

    E.g. Lash

When you lash out at your neighbour, lose 1 Life and roll with Yellow.

    On a 10+, choose 2.

    On a 7-9, choose 1.

    – Banned from using Affix until they Dream.

    – Banned from using Snuff until they Ruin.

    – They lose 2 Life.

    – You do it without losing a Life.

    is better than:

When you lash out at your neighbour, roll with Yellow.

    On a 10+, choose 2.

    On a 7-9, choose 1.

Banned from using Affix until they Dream.

Banned from using Snuff until they Ruin.

    They lose 2 Life.

You do not lose 1 Life in the process.

Also, Grasp could do with this revision and fixing its 6- result.

  5. Hello guys, I consider the game up and running at this point. Have a gander, not much has changed apart from wording and a nifty character sheet!

Thank you all for your help!

Enjoy! I’m off to play it!
