Masks: A New Generation Public Beta
Hey folks!
Thanks for joining us in this community! We never expected such a strong response right out the gate, and we’re thrilled that you’re all here.
As you’ve probably guessed, we’re getting ready for the launch of the Mask’s Kickstarter later this month. We’ve got a lot of cool stuff lined up, but we wanted to give you all a chance to get a sneak peak at the Masks playbooks, including all the basic moves and GM materials you need to run the game!
Since we’ve also had requests for an email list to keep people informed, we figured we’d combine the two. Here’s how this will work:
1) Click the link below to sign up for the Masks newsletter. We won’t bother you too often, but we’ll ping you when we launch the Kickstarter, release something new, etc.
Masks Newsletter: http://forms.aweber.com/form/27/1621755027.htm
2) Confirm that you’re signed up for the email list by clicking the verify link that comes to your inbox. Search your spam folder if you can’t find it!
3) Once you’re signed on, the email list will send you an email with a preview of the Kickstarter and a DTRPG link for downloading your playbooks. We’d love feedback on both!
Thanks for joining us on this journey. We’re really looking forward to showing you more Masks in the coming month!
So glad to be on the email list! I’ve been gathering a group of teenage heroes in preparation for this!
Damn @_@ this is good stuff!
sweet!
First thought=Awesome.
Late to jump on the praise wagon, but I’m super excited to look this stuff over so I can start playing! You guys at Magpie Games are pretty cool.
I’m guessing the Torch mentioned in the GM document has been renamed to the Beacon in the playbooks doc?
I think he/she’s been redacted for the playtest 🙂
Thanks, all! We can’t wait for you all to actually get a chance to try this game! 😀
Robert Ruthven – Yup! Brendan Conway decided that Torch was a bit confusing. It should be The Beacon on all documents.
This stuff is really sharp… Can’t wait to try it!
Also, is this post sharable outside the community?
We’d prefer that you not share this post publicly, but feel free to share it with friends, etc!
Robert Ruthven Forget what I said earlier^^ i’m stupid^^
(Wasn’t sure where better to put this, apologies if there’s somewhere more appropriate)
Moment of Truth for the Doomed appears to have gotten typoed – it currently reads “The only thing stopping you from Mark a Doomsign after you’re finished.”
Greg Wilson – Thanks, Greg! We’ll have Brendan Conway fix that right away!
I haven’t received anything yet?, is just a matter of wait and see?
Trent Boyd – Our system says the email went out to you! Check your spam folder and ping me at info@magpiegames.com if you can’t find it.
I will show this for my players. looks really really promising. Hope that the future will give cool guidelines to help to keep power level expectations somewhat similar. Also, all stuff about environment and Consequences on it would be wonderful.
I checked it out along with my GM and table. We didn’t like it very much, feels kind of the same as Teen Titans. Maybe it’s a good game for begginers or someone who wants to get started, specially since the characters stories are already handed.
Pricila Rodríguez – Any feedback you have would be appreciated! The game is supposed to be like Young Avengers, Teen Titans, and other young adult superhero stories, so that’s definitely the feel we’re going for with the system. Were you all expecting something different?
We’ve played Super humans before with a D10 system. I was looking for a mixture of superpowers. Maybe i want to be a doomed character but with the Bull strengths and the delinquent personality.
Pricila Rodríguez – Makes sense! This system works by confining your choices at first, then letting you branch out from a basic playbook into more complicated pairings. For example, I played The Janus tonight and took a Delinquent move when I advanced; I kinda think I might be headed toward that new playbook with the character.
Thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate it.
Is there a reason you get Potential from basic Moves and not from Playbook moves?
tomi sarkkinen: There had been reasons for it previously, but they aren’t compelling enough; in the next draft of the rules it will be changed to, “whenever you roll a miss on a move.” So it should include playbook moves.
Run first half of our game to two of my friends and we absolutely love the system. Second half start after a half hour break. Conditions work wonderfully. Influence doesn’t as we have only two characters. Bull and Janus work well for our conversion. I added two additional pools for our game with Team; Resources and Time as we have exploration campaign with Time travel twist. 🙂
Latter half worked wonderfully too. 🙂
