Mask Idea:
The robotic teenager, who starts without being able to take ANY debility but damaged (-1 to all rolls).
The core mechanic is getting in touch with human emotions; when you unlock a feeling, you unlock a new move, but gain the ability to take that affliction. (When you learn the meaning of Hope, Passion, Righteousness, you open yourself to Hopelessness, Anger and Insecurity, etc).
Update: Sounds like someone’s releasing “The Newborn” to embody this. In the future, we will be robots.
Interesting! The only possible fly in the ointment might be that, lacking human emotions, they might not be so heavily influenced by their self-image, which is essential to the mechanics.
That’s the inherent mechanic! Like Cyborg, Pinnochio or The Bicentennial Man, you gain power (and weakness) by growing.
I love the central conceit. 🙂
I had been thinking about something similar – in general, the new life form (alien or robot) that knows nothing about life in general (rather than the Alien, who is all about culture clash).
That is rather brilliant.
I love the concept with one concern.
Afflictions are also the primary “health” mechanic.
So one could just remain emotionless to be effectively untouchable?
Well when you can’t mark a condition but need to you are taken out. When you have only 1 condition you can only take one hit. That makes it more dangerous.
