A little fun thing to do for your Masks game:
Use names of important Comic Heroes or Corporatiosn for something completely different.
Wayne’s Diner
Paradise Island Hallenbad
Flash Comics
Ras Al Ghoul’s Taxis
Gotham Home Depot
Halycorn City Avengers (Baseball)
Stark Fries
Future Foundation Kindergarten
etc.
I think I like the taste of “Banner’s Candies”
I’ve done this with lovecraftian literature in fitting games and it was amusing enough.
Not directly a reference, but in Portland I keep seeing these generic-looking trucks that scream “facade” driving around. There are obviously-sting-operation vans that say “Commercial Plumbing Services” in boring font, and there are big rigs with a futuristic but completely non-descriptive logo for “CEVA Logistics.” Always wanted to stick those into a Supers game.
I love the idea of the baseball team being the Avengers.
Off of Lois Lane?
Quick’s Couriers.
Along those lines: Pietro’s Pizza (the only pie joint in the world with 5 minute delivery!)
I think I did a setting where the intersections were comic creator teams. Meet on the intersection of Siegel and Shuster
The Joker Comedy club
James Reuben gasps in shock and horror
I had a little bit of real terror when I read that. Like in the animated series when the casino guy opens “Joker’s Wild” and it just provokes him into attacking it. You don’t call a ship The Titanic, a blimp The Hindenburg, and you don’t name ANYTHING after The Joker.
Joker Comics is what I would name it. With a very friendly Jack in the Box as the mascot.
I think the idea here would be to apply the name to something completely unrelated to the original character.
