I have been working on a PbtA hack to play a monster hunting game, in a 17th Century Europe setting. In terms of fictional inspiration, it draws more upon modern monster hunting tropes from shows like Buffy and Supernatural but with additional rules that look to evoke a time period involving the Wars of Religion, the English Civil War and the peak of European witch hunting.
The current draft is very much a skeleton, and the archetypes are basically a collection of possible moves at this point, which will be refined and culled (I haven’t sorted out the advancement scheme yet). I’m looking to get any feedback anyone would like to give, and also to see if anyone is interested in play testing over Roll20.

Great minds… I have been experimenting with a track very similar to your faith-corruption track, but for sanity-weirdness in a cthulhu setting.

Just a quick skim bit I like so far.
Wynand Louw In this case the great mind belongs to Adrian Thoen, who suggested that particular method to track faith/corruption.
Yo Adrian!
Good job. 🙂
Dave Sealy Dammit! I should have known I stole it somewhere! Kudos to Adrian Thoen he is extremely creative.
I may get my group play this as we have a witcher fanatic Thomas DP in our group
I was messing around with something like this for a push-pull style of combat in a dance duelling game, but truth be told Pendragon did it way before me with its primary stats.
Ok maybe I got it from Pendragon too. I read it as inspiration a while ago. My brain is getting old…
A lot of design is knowing what tools you have at your disposal and knowing when and how to apply the best one
On the off chance anyone wants to try to run this using the current draft, I have put a play test character sheet here:

Once the archetypes are more refined I will do proper playbooks; I just made this sheet for play testing.
I’ve just added a new archetype for playing as a noble with a staff, or a mercenary captain type. Based heavily on the Chopper from AW and the demon underlings from Urban Shadows. I’s be grateful for feedback. Also working on giving the Scholar more schtick with a variation on the US workshop rules.
