We went to our first house show this past weekend! WWE Live Holiday Tour. It was really fun and I really, really want to go to more live events.
But my favorite part is that everyone in our audience worked together to have a good time. We cheered faces, boo-ed heels. We gasped and cringed when loud blows landed. We got excited for people we probably didn’t care much about. We stomped and clapped to revive our favorite wrestlers from their fading submissions, and our chants were appropriate and didn’t disrupt anything – they were tailored towards the performers and gave them stuff to riff on that wasn’t mean-spirited.
It was the complete opposite of watching televised wrestling, I guess I’m saying! I can’t wait to try it again.
Nothing beats going to a live wrestling event. Last night I went to Ring of Honor’s ROAD TO FINAL BATTLE event in Fort Lauderdale, and it was so much fun. The crowd was good, the wrestlers put on a great show and played off of the crowd.
So glad you had a great experience for you first time. Definitely go to more and try different promotions – find a local indie one if you can and see what that’s like, too.
What was your favorite match (or non-match moment?)
New Day! They were fun and interacted with the crowd and despite two botches, put on a great match against Lucha Dragons and the Dudleys. Everyone got into it!
Also, Miz super kicked Fandango and he did that thing whew you spit your gum out to make it look like a tooth went flying? Super visceral in person. The whole crowd cringed.
