I love themed comics. We talked a little before our last Masks game start and here’s our extended team.
All powers come from the Source (which we referred to as the AllSpark). In one way or another magic touches most things Super in this world.
Our planned team consisted of:
A Slayer like lady, tattooed and mystically enhanced (the Bull).
Mike Masters aka Mage (Sorcery Nova)
A bestial shapeshifting emissary from the Eastern Wilds (Outsider)
A vampire (Doomed)
The Revenant (a lightning/frankenstein styled Transformed)
This sounds awesome. Did you ever do the first session?
We did a couple issues.
The gang hangs out in this old mansion left to Mage by his uncle (who dissapeared under MYSTEERIOUS circumstances).
First issue involves Ura and Mage chatting about normal things when walking into the study they catch a costumed thief. There’s a brief scuffle where he gets away (6- villain move) with a small statue. They get in a squabble over whose fault it was (Ura noticed that the thief fought in the same way and style she did, so she hits up her mentor – another cult escapee – to try and figure out what’s going on). Mage, taunted by his failure, casts a spell and tracks the scent of the missing artifact. Which leads him to an underground gambling den in the Halcyon equivalent of chinatown.
Mage busts in first but loses control of his powers (he’s a Nova) and his telekinesis traps him under objects that come towards him rather than away. Ura bursts in shortly thereafter and starts to fight only to realize her friend has a gun to his head (6- again, threaten someone they hold dear). There’s an old woman that runs the underground gambling den there, and she reveals that there was an artifact hidden inside the statue (an arrowhead of Indra) and she’ll let all of them go safely, and return it, if they help her steal another artifact from an embassy. To make sure they don’t double-cross her, she sends someone to watch them – the Outsider.
Next issue has a lot of talking and some provokes, and direct engages via words. They realize the Outsider is honorable, but had a companion that was greviously injured, and was promised help fixing said companion (who was in a way being held hostage) for an exchange of services. Our heroes relate to him, manage to convince him to join the side of the angels, and track his friend thanks to a friendship bracelet and Mages tracking spells.
They fly down to the docks, and find where said person was being held, and find out that there is some sort of mad-scientist working on them. They disable alarms, bust in, scare the daylights out of the doctors/nurses/scientist, only to realize that the arrowhead was being used to energize/revitalize/reanimate the friend.
Said friend gets up. There’s a bit of an epic fight. They manage to talk to him and get through his rage. They recover the arrowhead, and snag a new friend, and head back.
Good times! ^_^ My favorite thing about Masks is that after every issue I think to myself – yeah I’d read that comic!
Awesome! Thanks for the update. I like how the plots are interweaving.
